Meet Pete

Hi there, my name is Pete Hockett and I’m a HiFi enthusiast and used HiFi equipment trader.

Like many like-minded people, my interest in hifi started in my teenage years. I was amazed how good music could sound after hearing a Quad, Tannoy system owned by a friend’s father. And that was it, I was hooked…  And secretly quite jealous too.

Shortly after leaving school I started working in a local Second-hand Audio Store called M.H.E. (Modern Home Electrics) on the busy Gloucester Road in Bristol. Despite the title, they also sold all manner of vintage HiFi gear which gave me a great appreciation for older equipment.

A few years later I landed my dream job working at Bristol’s premier Hi-fi retailer, Radford Hifi. I spent 10 happy years there during the 1980s, beginning on the sales floor and eventually running the Tape and Accessories Department.

After having trained as a sound engineer I toured for many years with a number of up-and-coming bands, as well as a stint working in theatre as a front of house sound technician.

Fast-forward to 2010 and I started selling used HiFi on eBay and it feels like I’ve come full circle (in a good way). I am often selling the same equipment I began selling 40 years ago and on many occasions have had the pleasure of meeting again customers from my Radford days.

I am passionate about customer service so you can rest assured that you, and your equipment, will be treated with the utmost respect. I take great care packaging equipment so that it arrives safely with you and in the same condition that it left me.

I’m happy to travel to your home to value more unusual or valuable high-end equipment and can either pay cash or sell your items on a commission basis. I work closely with my customers, the public and my trade contacts to make sure the best return is achieved. I also work with clients all over the world buying and selling HiFi or putting sellers in touch with buyers for a small commission. Visitors are welcome to my Bristol UK premises by appointment.

I can also help sympathetically with the valuation, purchasing and sale of audio gear following a bereavement. Estate HiFi equipment often left by a loved-one, friend or relative can sometimes be deemed worthless, but rather than letting it go to a house clearance company and sold for a pittance at a car boot sale, why not get it valued first? You might be surprised at its worth. I can make sure the music lives on and is enjoyed by another deserving enthusiast.
